A perfect location to discover unique places
San Miguel de Abona is the perfect place to discover unique historical and artistic places on the island, such as the Parroquia Matriz de San Miguel Arcángel (built in 1796), the Casa Museo El Capitán (residence of Los Alfonso at the end of the 19th century), the Municipal Library (first seat of the Town Hall), the Casa Natal de Juan Bethencourt (doctor, historian, anthropologist, born in San Miguel in 1847), the Casa Azul (current seat of the Town Hall) or the Casa Cuatro Esquinas (current Tourist Office) are essential visits.
The perfect holiday for golf and hiking lovers
In addition, due to its privileged geographical location, the municipality of San Miguel is an ideal place for a wide range of outdoor activities. For golf lovers, it is the perfect place to enjoy your holidays, as the municipality has 2 magnificent courses, Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf, pioneers in the south of Tenerife, as well as the marina La Marina San Miguel, which offers a complete range of water and underwater sports.
The municipality of San Miguel complements its range of leisure activities in contact with nature with several trails surrounded by spectacular landscapes, which have made it an essential point for those who decide to opt for a fun holiday. If we go to the highest part of the municipality we will find an orography dotted with a series of volcanic cones that give it a certain complexity of landscape. There are long, deep ravines that have their source at the summit and end up flowing into the coast, where there are some small, undeveloped cliffs and small black sandy beaches.
Ideal for nature lovers and active eco-tourism
In the coastal area of San Miguel we must mention the San Blas Environmental Reserve, which has a great landscape and ethnographic value, and is also a protected area of Montaña Amarilla. A place that attracts nature lovers.
We want to do our bit for the good and conservation of our planet, so with our holiday project we also seek to promote active tourism and raise awareness about the preservation of our natural wealth.
What is the ideal route to discover San Miguel de Abona?
San Miguel de Abona can be discovered along a pedestrian route through its historic quarter. Its layout follows a notable linear pattern in the Calle de la Iglesia, which corresponds to the old royal road that connected Granadilla and San Miguel with the San Lorenzo Valley.
The route starts at the Casa del Capitán History Museum, of great historical and cultural importance. The next stop is the Calvario, a small rectangular temple dating from the 19th century. Continuing along Calle de la Iglesia, the visitor will find the Municipal Library building, of great importance in the history of the municipality, and the parish church of San Miguel Arcángel. The walk ends at the town hall, La Casa Azul, which stands out for its exterior corridor and its Brazilian style.
